Dietetic Internship Centralized Application System (DICAS)

So, you are a senior who is about to go through the application and matching process to get into a Dietetic Internship.  Well, that means there is a good chance you are going to be applying to an one or more internships that will be using DICAS to process applications to their program.  What is DICAS?

DICAS offers a convenient, state-of-the-art, web-based application service that  allows applicants to apply to multipledietetic internships  by completing a single online application.  The system was specifically designed by DICAS to simplify and streamline the application process while providing considerable flexibility, electronic submission of applications, ongoing communication with applicants, and excellent customer support. 

 Here are some other importantpeices of  information about DICAS:

  • 83% if Dietetic Internships will be using the on-line centralized internship application, DICAS, for the Spring 2011 match. 
  •  DICAS can be accessed at https://portal.dicas.org
  • DICAS will be available after December 8, 2010 for the Spring 2011 Match.
  • The on-line application must be completed by 11:59 p.m. Central Time on February 15, 2011 (12:59 a.m. Eastern Time). 
  • The fee to use DICAS is $40 for the first application submitted and $20 for each additional application. 
  • When completing the application form, applicants must include the name and contact information (specifically an e-mail address) for each reference.  This will trigger an e-mail message to the person serving as the reference requesting that they completea reference form on-line. 
  • Students applying to more than one internship will need to use the same individuals as references for each internship.
  • Applicants who apply to internships using DICAS will be asked to complete a personal statement (1000 word limit).  Questions to be addressed in the personal statement include:
    • Why do you want to enter the dietetics profession?
    • Discuss experiences that have helped to prepare you for your career,
    • What are your short-term and long-term goals?
    • What are your strengths and weaknesses or areas needing improvement?

 

  • Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended will need to be sent to:

  • Applicants must also register online for computer matching at www.dnddigital.com and select dietetic internship priority choices by 11:59 p.m. Central Time on February 15.  There is a $50.00 computer matching fee.
  • Declaration of Intent to Complete Degree or DPD Verification Phone number and address where applicant can be reached, if necessary, on Appointment Day (April 5 for the Spring 2011 match; see www.eatright.org/CADE/content.aspx?id=186)
